Do you ever feel that there are some spaces that are just drab and boring in your house, at times they even feel non existent? Let me tell you, paint works wonders for these spaces and gives them a nice feel.

  1. Ever heard the saying first impressions matter? I totally agree and in light of this you can make a great first impression by painting your entryway with  warm and bold colour. This is the first space your guests come into contact with as they step inside the house. It would be great if they could feel the warmth and welcome all the way from the entryway. In case you have an open plan concept and have no formal entryway, you can use paint to define one as well.
  2.  If you have a small guest bathroom it can feel bland. Paint can also change this impression, use the same bold paint from your living room and make sure you use a bold color. Offset this bold color with light floors, sinks and tub so it does not look gothic. You may also paint the upper walls dark and the lower walls light. Just play around with your imagination and choose what suits you most.
  3. If you have a bookshelf in your living room either freestanding or built in, paint the back wall with a bold and bright colour which compliments the surrounding walls. Accessories and books will tone the bold color down so you can go all the way even choose scarlet red.
  4. Hallways are almost always narrow as we all know, paint them with a light colour so that they appear spacious and airy not gloomy and dark. This will also lessen the lights needed in the hallway. Accessories and furniture placed in the hallway should be complementary to the paint colour.
  5. We all need to indulge ourselves and our senses, so it will feel good to do something with paint in our private spaces. Indulge yourself with a splash of color in your closet. Have a feature wall in there or have bright cupboards if you feel like those. Make it exciting and inviting for you as this is your space. In your bedroom you can decide to have an accent wall. This can be behind your bed or any wall you want to accent.
