It is now the festive season and families are planning get togethers. The festive is not so festive without family and friends present If you plan on hosting your family and (or) friends, you will need to step up on your hostess game.
I have researched points, and of course added some I know guests like me will enjoy, and came up with the checklist below to which you can add or subtract some points if they are not relative to you.
- Always put fresh bedding for your guests and new towels in the bathroom as well. I always encourage people to always have new toiletries ready just in case. Pillows are also an issue, if possible put in different types of pillows, soft and firm or you can ask the guest’s preference.
- Ensure that the room you choose as a guest bedroom closes properly and can be locked for the guest’s privacy. On that same note sliding doors and windows should be well covered as well.
- There must be good lighting in the room during the night as well as day so the guests can be comfortable. Choose a warm and serene paint colour as well for your guest bedroom, preferably a light colour especially where the room is small.
- Their stay might be temporary but they will need a place to keep their luggage, ensure there is somewhere for them to store their stuff whether it’s a built in or freestanding wardrobe.
- Include one or two good books in the room so they do not get bored. Some sort of entertainment will be good for them.
- It may seem weird but some of us love snacking late at night and as a guest it is quite embarrassing going to the kitchen in the middle of the night to get a snack. I advise you to keep some snacks for the guests in their rooms which is much more convenient. Also keep a carafe of water changing it now and again so that it has a desirable temperature.
- If you stay in a place where there are beautiful sights to see, keep a map in the guest’s room and highlight these places so you make a date to go there.
It is important to know your guest’s preference so their stay at your house is one they will remember. Happy new month and festive season to you all.
