Recycling is the process of recovering material from waste and turning it into new useful products. Examples of things that are recyclable are aluminium cans, plastic water bottles and many more. There are benefits of recycling which includes, conserves natural resources, prevents the environment and wildlife, saves energy, reduces incineration and it reduces the costs.
When we recycle waste materials into new useful products, it reduces the consumption of natural resources. If we do not recycle the waste materials there is need to extract fresh raw materials to make new products. Recycling helps to protect the important raw materials and protects natural habitats for the future. Recycling paper and wood saves trees and forest though new plants can be planted but cannot replace virgin rain forest or ancient woodlands once they are lost.
Recycling saves the environment and wildlife by not extracting new raw materials from the earth this reduces the harmful disruption and damage being done to the natural resources. Recycling also keeps waste out of the environment. A lot of plastic ends up in the dams and seas causing a lot of damages there.
Products that are made from recycling requires less energy than making them from new raw materials even when comparing all associated costs including transport. Since there is less energy required it also saves the cost.
The other important issue about recycling is that it reduces the incineration because the recyclable materials are processed into new products and this reduces the amount of air pollution produced because it is believed that through this process carbon emissions are released which will contribute to the climate change.
According to Lambeth council in London 2017 stipulates that it is six times cheaper to dispose recycled waste than general refuse .This helps to save money and it will benefit everyone including the households, community and local public services. Green waste and food can be recycled by making compost that can be used to grow more food and other crops. It helps by saving money to buy artificial manures for growing the crops.
Recycling helps to cut the amount of waste we produce and it keeps our environment clean and contributes to the development of our country by saving the raw materials and not exploiting all of them. To achieve this our participation is needed as individuals to make sure that all recyclables are being useful and not seen as waste materials
