Interior design is the art and science of enhancing the interior of a building to achieve a healthier and more aesthetically pleasing environment for the people using the space. An interior designer is someone who plans, researches, coordinates, and manages such projects. Exterior design is the process of designing the exterior of the building, this includes the facade, roof and fundamental elements. Exterior design is usually performed by an architect with the help of civil structural engineers.
Before a designer starts to design he must set the principles which must be shaped by the owner of the house or property to be designed. The client must tell you what he or she wants the design to look like. This is the major principle to make sure that you go beyond the client’s expectations.
Secondly it should be shaped by the environment that is a designer must create a living space that is suitable for the site the property is situated. therefore its important to know the space needed by the family members, taking care to comply with any local construction rules and to ensure colors and shape of the house’s exterior and the landscaping fit in with the neighborhood.
There has to be Visual Harmony which is setting contrasts to create emphasis, focal points outside and within the house that draw people’s attention. After incorporating all the design principles it should result in unity of the design as a whole.
Lastly but not least is value: Quality over everything. The designer must prioritize quality in their designs because quality must be a unique trademark. Quality maintains customer satisfaction and loyalty and reduces the risk and costs of replacing faulty goods.
The importance of designing helps the person to learn a lot about the space, and how people feel comfortable while being at a specific place and using its facilities. Good design responds in a practical and creative way to both the function and identity of a place. It puts land, water, drainage, energy, community, economic, infrastructure and other such resources to the best possible use over the long as well as the short term.
For one to be called a designer, they must have these principles and know the importance of designing. If they know that the designs to be produced will be nice, of a good standard and eye catching clients will always come or refer other clients. A designer must always ensure that their designs are captivating.
