An architect is a person who plans and designs buildings of commercial and residential and supervises the construction process. The roles of an architect are to plan, design and develop. And these roles must be performed by an architect who has skills such as good communication skills, imaginative and creative skills, analytic and problem solving skills and technical skills.
The first thing the architect must do is to plan before designing. The architect must identify what type of building is required and the shape according to what the client wants and expects. The plan must include the time the project is going to take. During the planning period the architect comes up with a strategy of how to carry out the project.
The architect must design the plan for the building showing the floor plans, elevations, roof plan and if the building requires special foundation it must be shown on the plan. The total area of the building must be shown as well. The building plan should then be approved by the city council, so the architect must have knowledge of the council’s rules and laws. This plan again is the one which must be used by builders when they are constructing the building and they must follow what is on this building plan.
The third role is to develop whereby the architect will be supervising the construction of the building Making sure that everything that has been planned, and designed is being correctly followed as it is If there are any mistakes the architect has to do some amendments on the building plan On this role he will be like a leader of the project so the architect must have some leadership skills.
The skills that must be inherited by architect include good communication skill this is one of the most essential skills because you will be working with different kinds of people so as an architect you will be able to efficiently and effective to communicate your ideas to people who work in various projects. This helps you to deliver your ideas and findings easily since you will be able to express yourself in several different ways as people vary in knowledge levels and they will understand the architect.
It is important to be imaginative and creative as an architect. This enables one to think outside the box and bring new ideas to the table. This will guarantee clients are satisfied and they can get the best designs from the architect.
It is important to be analytic and possess problem solving skills which require critical thinking. Decisions should be made based on the information at hand after thorough evaluation. Critical thinking is imperative in problem solving because problems are a part of projects. Through this the architect will be able to identify key elements, their strengths and weaknesses enabling them to make better decisions and recommendations.
Technical skills are also a must as these will ensure one has the ability and knowledge needed to perform specific tasks. There is also a need to know current technologies for plan designing. Architects use a lot of technology these days when designing the plan enabling them to put the plan on 3D so that the client can have a clear picture of what the building will be like in the end
